Certificates of Compliance
Certificates of Compliance are issued to companies who have implemented a rigorous HACCP based program for food safety. The Certificates are issued after the company has been inspected by a Kasar auditor and has passed a HACCP compliance audit. The audit is generally carried out over a one or two day period. The audit is based on a sampling of documentation from the company’s records as well as a visual inspection of a sampling of the company’s premises and equipment; the audit does not review all documentation, premises or equipment.
To obtain a compliance certificate company management must confirm the following:
- That they have followed the recommendations and/or guidelines with respect to Food Safety Programs, Products and Services as set out by Kasar or another recognized food safety program;
- That they will ensure ongoing compliance with the Programs as recommended;
- That they will properly notify Kasar of any problems or incidents that relate to or has the potential to compromise the Food Safety Programs, Products and Services; and
- That they will notify Kasar of any subsequent changes that may compromise the Food Safety Programs, Products and Services implemented or the Validity of Compliance Certificate.
The certificate indicates that a HACCP system has been implemented and that, as of the date of the audit, reasonable measures are in place to identify and prevent risks to food safety. The compliance certificate is not meant to certify that there are no food safety risks. All certificates have an issue date and an expiry date.
